Sourcing, marketing and translocating wildlife according to your requirements is only part of the deal. Our true satisfaction lies in the wellbeing of the creatures entrusted to us, which inevitably leads to the wellbeing and success of your wildlife ranching enterprise.

With 28 years experience in Wildlife Marketing we are fully competent in giving a well informed opinion about most marketing issues, price trends, etc. This is backed by a keen understanding of the factors involved in the market. Due to a hands-on approach we are able to explain price fluctuations due to biological and ecological factors, which cannot be derived from an auction report in the media.

When we talk about breeding, genetics, feeding, adaptation and management it is not hearsay. Thanks to formal study and achieving the degree BSc Agric Hons (Animal Sci), Freddie Senekal is capable to assist in these matters becoming so important to the progressive game farmer.

We specialize in the transport of high value species. This ranges from the smaller colour variants such as Black – and Saddleback Impala to Roan Antelope and Livingstone Eland. We also have transport available for Giraffe and Rhino. It is of course possible to assist with the transport of smaller loads of plains game.

Our wildlife trailers are designed to be adaptable. This enable us to cater for the specific requirements of different species. We are, as an example, able to carry 14 Tsessebe or Nyala bulls in individual compartments on a single consignment.

For small loads and single animals we have crates of different sizes available.

The operators of our vehicles have loads of experience. Due to the ultralow rate of injuries or mortalities they achieve, we are often recommended as preferred translocators by insurance companies.

Although we will gladly transport your valued animals at a competitive cost, our vehicles, trailers, crates or any other equipment cannot be borrowed or rented out separately.

We are very fortunate to have the services of Mr Piet van Staden available to our clients. His extensive knowledge, which includes a MSc in Wildlife Management and Ph.D in Plant Ecology, is backed by 11 years as Game Ranger in Kruger National Park and 13 years as Park Manager in Marakele – and Augrabies National Parks. During 2002 he was the founder of the Professional Ecological Consultancy PVS : Environmental Services.
Although you can be assisted with ecological aspects in general, his services has recently mostly been required to compile Management Plans for specific properties or projects.

A typical Management Plan for your specific game farm will consist of:

• A complete description of the existing plant communities
• Determining carrying capacity of different game species
• Recommendations including most suitable game species, numbers and management aspects.

A Management Plan forms a vital part of your application to keep certain species like buffalo, rhino, sable- and roan antelope. But of even more importance is the fact that no responsible game farmer can survive without implementing a proper Management Plan to ensure long term success.

In the near future Bateleur Wildlife Services will have their own fulltime veterinarian available. This holds numerous advantages for our business as well as our clients.

• Having a Veterinarian on site will lower the risk of injuries/mortalities of animals in captivity (bomas) considerably.
• Arranging capture dates will be much easier and quicker.
• High value animals can be accompanied during transport at an affordable cost.
• DNA testing become ever more important, and collection of samples will be quicker.
• The primary purpose of this service is to speed up transactions and lower risk during translocation.
• The service might be available to clients on a selective basis, as far as it does not interfere with the primary purpose.
