About us

Bateleur Wildlife Services is based in the town Thabazimbi situated in the northwestern region of the Limpopo province of South Africa. This area is the heartbeat of the South African wildlife industry. We are surrounded by several hundred privately owned game ranches as well as game reserves and the National Parks of Marakele, Madikwe and Pilanesberg.

All the personel involved in the business has grown up with animals in different situations. Our affection and understanding of both domestic animals and wildlife is thus rooted within us since childhood.

Freddie Senekal, founder and owner of Bateleur Wildlife Services, has studied at the University of Pretoria where he has achieved a BSC in Animal Science as well as a BSc Hons in Breeding and Management. During 1987 he joined Vleissentraal, the largest and most reputable livestock marketing company in South Africa. Part of his responsibilities was the sourcing and marketing of wildlife countrywide, both for direct sales and auctions. During this period the wellknown KZN Parksboard auction was initiated and held for the first time.

Bateleur Wildlife Services was founded in 1992 and was one of the first independent wildlife marketing agents in the RSA. Since then thousands of animals of almost any species has been translocated throughout South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.

Our facilities and equipment which includes game pens, holding camps, transport crates and wildlife trailers has been approved by Nature Conservation, and we are registered as wildlife translocators at the Department of Wildlife and Tourism. Being involved in the breeding of rare species ourselves we are also proud members of Wildlife Ranching South Africa, Wildlife Ranching Namibia, Wildlife Translocation Association and Wildlife Stud Services.
